Oxford College welcome Andre Maraldo, President and CEO of Trillium Meditec Inc, yesterday to the campus, where he interviewed some of our students for potential careers in his company. Trillium Meditec is a Mississauga-based pharmaceutical manufacturer, which is currently producing Outline and Euthrophill, products that smooth out wrinkles and correct face and lip volumes.
The products, which are now emerging as alternatives to Botox, are being made in Canada and sold in this country and in China. Andre Maraldo has found that demand for them is much greater than his supply, so he is increasing his production. To do this, he came to Oxford College to interview students in our Pharmaceutical Manufacturing program, in hopes to immediately hire three people.
Feroz Anjum, Director of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing program, said, "We are very proud to have companies like Trillium Meditec coming to Oxford and seeing for themselves the high-quality education we are providing. We are very confident that our students can go out and begin working in the industry right away."
Mr. Maraldo's tour of Oxford also introduced him to the college's Clinical Research program, and he is now considering using students from that program to run the clinical trials for his new products.
Oxford College has launched two websites focusing on a pair of its most successful programs: Learndentalhygiene.ca showcases Oxford’s Dental Hygiene program, one of the largest in Canada, while Learnclinicalresearch.ca gives information about the Clinical Research Associate program.
Developed by the Oxford College Library, the websites are meant to give a detailed look at the programs offered by Oxford College, as well as the state of these professions in Canada.
“It is really difficult for students and people interested in these programs to find the right kind of information,” said Peter Konieczny, Librarian at Oxford College. “We want to provide news about what is going on in these industries, and show people all the innovations and changes that are going on in the medical and dental fields.”
The websites offer in depth information about the programs offered at Oxford College, and stories about the students and faculty. It also has articles related to what is happening in these industries in Canada, and the job market for graduates.
