I hope this email finds you well. It hasn’t been a week since we finished school and here I am writing to you with good news. I received my offer of employment from Voyant Beauty yesterday for the Jr. Compounder position at their Rexdale plant. I will have my orientation and start training on Oct. 11.

I cannot thank you enough for all the support that you have provided during our time at the college. I walked in to the interview confidently because I knew what to expect, all those things you have mentioned in class came in very handy. When I was asked what my long term plans are and I responded that I would like to be a part of a company where I can grow professionally (stay until retirement, if possible) and would be recognized (not retire in the same position, may be promoted at least?) the HR Manager answered that it was “impressive”. You also took the time to teach me to do my research of the company I am applying for, even educating me as to what it means to be a CDMO. I believe these are some things that helped me land this job, along with the training we did at the lab.

Most companies see that I do not have any manufacturing experience but when I got to explain to the interview panel the kind of training we received at Oxford College and the plant set up plus the equipment we have there, they were surprised. More companies should hear about the lab training and plant set up we have at the College because it blows their minds how much experience we can get while in school.

Thank you once again for the knowledge and wisdom you wholeheartedly shared with us, thank you for training us to be good manufacturing technologists and most of all, thank you for the samosas. Covid has definitely been a struggle, and even though I’ve only been with Oxford for almost 2 weeks, my instructor is AMAZING! And it’s nice to chat throughout the class with my fellow classmates. Everyone is very nice, and we always have great conversations amongst ourselves.

It has been so long since I have been in this type of environment (school/group learning) and it’s nice that the first module isn’t very heavy in regard to tests and papers etc. I am thoroughly enjoying the Enriched Academy content and also the Power learning content. As mentioned not having this in my life for what feels like so long, I didn’t realize that I needed these reminders in some cases but also learning something about myself for the first time, that has been my favorite part so far.

I am a recent graduate from the IODA program. During my time in my program, I have acquired the skills that have improved my confidence and that have prepared me for placement and the work force.

The instructors are efficient and teach in a variety of techniques. My instructor for Intra Oral Assisting, Sandra Mann, was an incredible instructor and she always had confidence in her ability to teach us the required skills, while making us feel more confident with our own skills.

Yes as you can see I am a victim to a quarantine hair cut done by my wonderful 11 year old daughter. But that does not stop me from ensuring all is working well at the Oxford Peterborough Campus! Setting up exams, starting new students, working out schedules for all. This is really unchartered territory but know not only are the students and instructors working hard so is the Admin team.

I attended college for the IODA program, and finished in September, 2014. I recently started my placement with the Peterborough Dental Health Unit. During my time at college I had a rough time managing home issues and school and didn’t know if I was going to be able to finish. I want to thank my instructor, Sandra Mann, who gave me confidence and pushed me to do what I thought I couldn’t do. The staff was amazing and helped me through so much more than just getting my education, like how to keep a positive upbeat attitude while I was in school. I started my placement September 15 and I love it!

I felt I was very well prepared and super excited. I fit right in working with tools and patients and it felt so natural, all thanks to Sandra. We were not always an easy class, and I wasn’t always an easy student but Sandra was there every day with a smile on her face ready to teach us. It is thanks to her that I have become the person/Dental Assistant that I am today.

Mr. Badar is an absolutely amazing teacher, his patience, understanding and devotion to the students made it much more easy for us to adjust to the online learning. He was there for us no matter what time of the day and he made sure we understood all that we were learning. He had a exceptional way of explaining the material and if we had questions he answered them one by one, even though at one point we were about 54 or 56 students in his class, he made all of us feel welcome and included and it felt like he really enjoyed teaching. I remember one time he wasn’t feeling well, but he stayed on Zoom until we all understood what we had to do, and then the next day asked to help anyone that had trouble. He is absolutely one of the BEST teachers out there, and Oxford College and the students that get him as an instructor are very lucky to have him. We fninshed with his modules about a week ago but we miss him so much and we talk about him every day.

When I first came here in Canada, I was not entirely sure if what life I can be after finishing my nanny/caregiver contract. Fast forward I got my permanent residency and decided to go back for school and I had lots of choices in my mind, but one day while browsing my Facebook Oxford College of Burlington branch pop up and I inquire what’s the available courses that I can take related to my nursing profession. I came to enroll in a Paramedic program but I give up on it due to my health issues and I end up getting a Community Service Worker course. Having the right decision because I had an amazing, approachable and friendly instructor Sir Thomas Ryan. I like the fact that the class is small and it’s a module base, my colleagues are friendly and nice. The staffs are approachable, very flexible in helping student’s needs. We were students in the IODA program for 2013-2014 year. Thanks to the program and our amazing instructor, Sandra Mann, we felt greatly confident entering our placement. We feel that because of the time and attention we received from our instructor we were able to master our skills and obtain the required confidence to deal with the people we will encounter in our future employment.

Doing online class, for now, is a good alternative to continuing classes. In our MLAT evening class, our instructor Salma Siddiqui is doing her best to keep us updated overall, she’s punctual on-time meetings and clearly explaining her class topic before we start, also she is very resourceful in a way that she will find a way and make sure that all of her students get the latest information on our topic. Discussing her lesson well, using share screening and PowerPoints online. Our class instructor is handling her class nicely, we are still learning something, sharing thoughts and experience and discussing great and interesting topics like what we did in class. Being an International Medical Graduate, Clinical research has been my focus of career choice ever since I came to Canada. I checked out programs from different colleges and then opted for the PG diploma program at Oxford because I liked their modules better than elsewhere. It covers all the essentials and skills required as a clinical research professional in depth. Also, this course comes with a 14 week placement assisted by college. The career counsellor really went above and beyond for getting everyone placed.

During my internship with LMC Manna Research, Toronto, I found my theory basics in clinical research were solid because of the training given in class by Dr. Kamyar Motavaze. Also, this placement helped me get my foot in the industry as I have been offered a job at the end of my internship as a Clinical Trial Assistant.

Overall, I am so grateful that I chose this program.

First of all, I thank you for arranging online zoom meeting to see my placement site and talking to my supervisor about my placement and also giving me the opportunity to discuss so many things with you, it was really a useful session and I really appreciate your quick responses to all my emails and questions especially during my placement.

So far I am very happy with my student placement, they have provided us with all necessary personal protective equipment and it is a good experience to work in a safe place where everyone is following all safety guidelines to be safe and help others stay safe during this COVID-19.

I am enrolled in the Community Service Worker Diploma Program. I started in Mid February a few weeks before COVID 19. I have been enjoying my online classes with tutor Thomas Ryan. He is the go-to person for all the questions that you may have on the program. Teaching methods that have been used are whiteboard, Youtube Videos, Powerpoint slides, and breakout sessions for small group discussions on projects and assignments. In May, we had an online job fair that went very well. The advantages of online classes are convenience, flexibility, and the ability to be able to access the class from anywhere. The tutor is very knowledgeable in the subject matters. He Keeps the class interested!

I joined the program online at the end of May – so have not experienced it any other way yet. I have quite enjoyed the online experience. The stable timing of its hours is fabulous, and I frankly can get spoiled by getting quick things done around the house during break time. I would say that it is a slower time to get to know people, but that is coming along too. In a way, it has allowed us to learn technology perhaps sooner than when we would have otherwise through online groups, breakout rooms, presentations etc. I do think there are positives and negatives for online, in the same way as there would be in class, but it is a nice alternative for when online is needed.

Being back at placement is great!

I am currently with Community Living Burlington. CLB has shut down its day programs due to Covid-19. In place of the day programs offered on-site, they have started a pilot project of virtual programming over zoom to increase the social interaction and maintain physical/intellectual activity, while encouraging a safe environment. I am currently working in virtual programming 4 days a week. In my time in virtual programming, I greet everyone to each 45-minute program, introduce the host, take attendance and monitor the screens for appropriate language and behaviour and help with any technical issues. I have filled in as the dedicated host for several programs such as the art class and sign language, as well as creating my own programs “Summer Mocktails and Games – with James”, and a science hour where we explore science and do weekly science experiments. Other programs offered are things like, yoga, music lessons, around the world ( learning about different places where we have all lived – rotating hosts), Zumba, and many more. Evenings I spend doing administrative duties and research. On Wednesdays, I work in the food distribution for residential homes organizing and delivering food to the 28 residential homes that are supported through CLB.

I have also just started a student placement mentorship group. This was suggested to me by my supervisor,  offering help and encouragement to students that will be starting a placement with CLB and are having difficulties with online programming, making connections in this format, and also helping with the creative process in starting their own programs in virtual programming.

In general, I was nervous about doing a placement in this format myself. I have found that the experience I am gaining is extremely valuable. It is a lot of work but is very rewarding and I have made some very great connections in the field, and am being encouraged and guided by some very amazing mentors.

The course is quite challenging because there is a lot of material covered in a short amount of time. However, the instructor is easy to listen to and follow along with. Patty helps us with everything when we don’t understand something about the course, she helps us by explaining everything in detail. Also, I like how our instructor prepares us for the exams, she does not move to the next course material until we have a good understanding of the course. I enjoy this course; the professor and my classmates are very friendly and helpful.

My tip for this course is to ALWAYS ask questions when you don’t understand something, don’t be afraid to ask!

I have been enrolled in the Oxford College Video Game Design Course for over a year. The course has been diverse. I have learned many things about both art and programming. I’ve learned about animation, how to use various art and video game engine programs, how to design levels, and create storyboards. My teacher has been very patient with me even when I have had difficulty understanding things and keeping up. He has always been willing to spend as much time with me as I needed to fix my problems, and accomplish my goals. I remain hopeful that this course will help me find a job in the future that I will enjoy.

Returning to practical classes on campus has been a great experience. As an instructor, I feel safe with my practical instruction on campus. This is definitely where we need to be with the Massage Therapy practical components of the program.

My return to the Oxford college campus following the closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been a great experience. Oxford College has done everything possible to ensure the safety of their students, staff and student massage therapy clients with no interruption to the student learning experience or environment.

We have successfully completed all the modules of MLAT with Mr. Badruddin Umar on 8th of June, 2020. For all of us, it was an unforgettable academic period. Mr. Badar acted as a highly skilled professional teacher. It is worth mention-able of his organized scheduling, transmitting, delivering and implementing educational modules. We had all logistics of teaching materials from him in google class enriched with videos and links. He was well in presenting slides maintaining scientific standards. We could question him during lectures eliciting the best of his knowledge and experience for us. We appreciate the Manager, Karin Cech for presenting us Mr. Badar, a wonderful resourceful ideal teacher at the beginning of our session at Oxford. Thank you.

Our world is in ever-changing times, and people react differently to change.  I feel that “we are all in this together”, and when necessary, we need to try and pay it forward. The reason for this letter is just that, commending one of your professors that cares, that makes sure that we all stay together. I am currently a student at the Scarborough campus Pharmaceutical technology program, Professor Feroz Anjum. Previous to this, I was an Executive Chef for extremely high volume restaurants, hotels, retirement, etc., so I am no stranger to stress. Feroz Anjum has helped keep us all together and should be recognized for that. He has been a great coach, mentor, and is an asset to the college.

After a LONG wait, our class is finally back in the dental clinic! The students were ready last Friday in their crisp new scrubs, and enthusiastic attitudes, eager to get started with some hands-on learning.  Even though we covered a lot of material online over the past few months, nothing compares to being able to learn things in person and interact with each other face to face, or should I say mask to mask.

We are familiarizing ourselves with the amazing modern equipment in the clinic, and staying up to date with all of the guidelines in relation to sterilization and PPE. We will soon be delving into the world of radiography, developing our X-ray taking and interpreting skills. It won’t be long before these students become experts in taking impressions, passing instruments, and providing oral hygiene instruction to our patients. Looking forward to all of the learning that lies ahead!

I had a great experience with Professor Badar. He is a great teacher with excellent communications skills.The way he explains in class is super awesome.He makes difficult topics very easy to understand .After his class I will just have a glance to my topic and that will be more than enough for me to do very well in my exams.I really appreciate his way of teaching and his guidance during the course.I am very glad to have such a great teacher to teach me at Oxford College.

My preference was the live classroom atmosphere, but I didn’t mind doing classes online at all. I found the lectures to have the same energy and positive outlook as I did in the classroom. And while it was difficult at times with the technical issues, I was grateful to continue classes online. You provided opportunities for us to discuss topics in breakout sessions and offered online information (Youtube, share screen, etc.) when needed. In the short time you had to prepare and adapt to the changes, I think you did quite well!

I haven’t been in school for many years. The last time was at least 25 years ago.

I am thoroughly enjoying the experience of us doing our classes online. One might think that there are distractions at home being online, yet I beg to differ. The fact that all of us are on the monitor at the same time helps me to actually be more focused, attentive, and interactive.

I am pleased that I am achieving good marks which to me is an indication of how this way of learning works well. Having a good instructor helps as well.

Having the Power Points enables me to save them and I have better notes to studying and reference.

I appreciate your attentiveness with students and often pull up things on the computer to further elaborate questions we have.

The advantage of online classes is that you get familiar with technology. The biggest challenge to me is family, sometimes interrupts my study. So far the classes have been awesome with our Lecturers assistance, I am progressing on well.

I have been loving my experience with Oxford from day one, and I have never been so enthusiastic about schooling before, the Peterborough Oxford professors have really made my experience as well learning very easy and enjoyable on how caring they are for everyone’s future. Being in the IODA program and having Sandra as my teacher has been the best part of my Oxford experience so far. Her teaching skills and how highly positive she is every class, has made learning a lot of information super enjoyable and astonishing how much her teaching skills can implant into my brain.

I have been more than happy with Oxford, even though we have had a bit of a hiccup [with the pandemic]. The size of the classrooms makes it much easier for our professors to double-check that everyone’s understanding of all the information at hand, as well as following along in a timely manner. I have said nothing but amazing things about Oxford to friends and family, all my family knows how much I enjoy having Sandra as my teacher, and they all see with how well my marks have been while attending Oxford!

My experience so far at Oxford has been a good one. It has been nice to meet a few people, I do enjoy the smaller classroom size, it makes for a great learning environment. I have a great teacher and I have had great interactions with any of the admin staff that I have needed to work with. I’m always happy for quick responses to questions and fast email replies.

The transition to online learning when Covid-19 struck went much smoother than I ever anticipated so that was great and I have been totally loving school online in this platform. I appreciate that we are safe (or as safe as possible) with this approach to continuing our education, and am very happy to continue this way.

I really value the timing of the classes (being in the morning) which allows for flexibility in other schedules.

So far, so good…Its been a great fit for me personally.

You gave us a learning by ourselves through reading and doing review questions for very clear and deep understanding. I don’t know other students, but for me I like this method because I understood all chapter so well.

I imagine if other ways were composed by power point by teacher, we just received information but not understand deeply.

I am very comfortable and excited in learning your module everyday without stress and worrying.

You also are strict in doing homework for students. The more you concern The more student think it isn’t a joke.

I know everyone has their own circumstances, but some they do not have good attitude in learning, but you cared them and accepted their behavior and solved problems perfectly in your way.
