As a dental hygienist, you will provide dental hygiene treatment and information related to the prevention of diseases and disorders of the teeth and mouth. Our program prepares you to provide client-centred care in a wide range of practice environments. You’ll learn the theoretical and practical skills needed to achieve professional success as a vital member of a healthcare team.

Students will
learn how to:

  • Conduct an initial dental assessment and provide client centred dental hygiene care.  
  • Instruct patients regarding oral hygiene procedures
  • Prevention and treatment of gum disease
  • Scaling and root planing (cleaning teeth) 
  • Take dental impressions for the fabrication of mouthguards and whitening trays
  • Apply sealants
  • Remove stains
  • Apply fluoride treatment
  • Take and develop X-rays
