Why Denturism?
Denturists are independent, self-regulated oral health professionals. They assess patients, design treatment plans, and fabricate and deliver removable dentures directly to the public, without working under a dentist. Most denturists own and operate their own practices. That means you’re not working for someone else your whole career. You’re building something of your own.
Also, the demand is growing. Canada’s 65+ population is the fastest-growing demographic in the country, and the Canadian Dental Care Plan, launched in 2024, has extended dental coverage to millions of Canadians who previously lacked it. More coverage means more people seeking denture services, and more opportunities for the professionals who provide them.

We’re one of the few Denturism programs in Canada that uses a hybrid delivery model. You complete your theory online, giving you the flexibility of completing theory from home, then you come into the lab and clinic in person to build the hands-on skills the profession demands. - Graduate in 2.5 years, not 3 years
A three-year program means three years of full-time tuition, living costs, and financial pressure. Denturism is one of the most unique and highly skilled healthcare professions in Canada. As a Denturist, you’ll be an independent professional, licensed and trained to provide removable denture prosthetic services directly to your patients.
You’ll give people the ability to smile, eat, and speak with confidence again.

Your Journey from Enrollment to Create Your Own Practice
One of the things students appreciate most about our Denturism program is that you can see exactly where the path leads, from your first day in the lab all the way to graduation and beyond.
Here’s what that journey looks like.
Terms 1–2
Building Your Foundations
You’ll start with anatomy, dental materials, infection control, histology, and pre-clinical prosthodontics. Lab skills begin from the first day on campus, so you’re working with your hands, not just your notes.
Terms 3–4
Core laboratory Training
At this stage, the hands-on work intensifies. You’ll start learning about complete dentures, removable partial dentures, oral pathology, and radiology, using laboratory equipment in our fully equipped dental laboratory. Treatment planning and patient management become part of your daily training.
Terms 5–6
Advanced Practice
By this stage, you’ll be working at the full scope of what a practicing denturist does. You will be introduced to Implant-retained overdentures, digital dentures using CAD/CAM technology and 3D scanning, advanced clinical prosthodontics, and complex patient care.
Final Term
Board Prep and Business
The final term is where you continue to focus on patient centered care, while preparing for the College of Denturists of Ontario (CDO) provincial licensing exam, cover ethics and professional relations, and complete your business planning module. By the time you graduate, you’ll be eligible to write the College of Denturists of Ontario (CDO) exam, and you will have the skills to open a business – not foundation.
Train in a Fully Equipped Dental Laboratory
Our fully equipped dental laboratory gives you the chance to train in facilities that closely mirror what you’ll encounter when you start working officially.
Training with the equipment means you’ll have already bridged any potential knowledge gap before you pursue work as a Denturist.

Program Outcomes
Upon the completion of Denturism program at Oxford College, it is expected that Denturism students will be able to:
- Practice within the Regulated Health Professions Act.
- Maintain professional, ethical practice adhering to the Code of Ethics, and the College of Denturist of Ontario Standards of Practice, while maintaining accountability to those served.
- Communicate effectively in verbal, non-verbal, written and electronic communication to provide accurate and appropriate information regarding oral health.
- Coordinate and collaborate inter-professionally and intra-professionally to promote the health and wellbeing of patients.
- Demonstrate critical thinking by incorporating evidence-based practice in all aspects of the Denturism scope of practice.
- Provide competent Denturism services to enable patients to achieve optimal oral health that contributes to overall health.
- Gather, assess and document patient’s oral health status in order to determine the appropriateness of a requested service and to develop a treatment plan in collaboration with the patient.
- Manage risks and ensure the safety of patient and staff by complying with IPAC (infection prevention and control) and occupational health and safety legislation guidelines and Standards of Practice.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development.
- Apply health promotion theory to empower patients to improve their oral and general health through the provision of educational, preventative, and therapeutic services.
- Use appropriate patient record and financial management practices, and manage human resource activities in accordance with legislation, regulatory requirements, Standards of Practice, and guidelines.
What to Expect from the Program
The Denturism program is delivered in an intensive format over 132 weeks, and we want you to go in with realistic expectations.
You should plan to dedicate at least 15 hours of independent study per week outside scheduled classes. Additional campus time for lab projects may be required, and clinical hours can extend into evenings and weekends.
The profession also has physical demands; you’ll sit for extended periods in the lab and stand for extended periods in the clinic. Good manual dexterity and adequate vision (with or without corrective lenses) are important.
In the final year of the program, you need to assume responsibility for your own patients to complete the clinical component.
It’s a demanding program. It’s also one of the most rewarding careers you can build, and we will be with you every step of the way.

Graduation Requirements
To successfully complete the Denturism program, you’ll need to:
- Achieve a passing grade of 60% or higher in all theory modules
- Achieve a passing grade of 70% or higher in all practical modules
- Maintain a cumulative average of 70%

We know a 2.5-year full-time program is a big decision. Here are some of the questions we hear most often.
Why is the tuition $60,000?
It’s a fair question, and you deserve a straight answer.
Our tuition reflects what the program delivers, and we believe the evidence speaks for itself.
We publish our board exam pass rates. In 2024 and 2025, our written pass rate was 82–100%. Other colleges don’t publish theirs. When you’re making a significant investment in a program that leads to a licensing exam, you should have information on how a school’s graduates perform on that exam.
Aside from the results, the program itself is built differently from what you’ll find elsewhere. You’ll train in a cohort of just 6 to 15 students, compared to other colleges with larger cohorts, which means more instructor time, more lab access, and more individual feedback. You’ll also complete a digital dentures module covering CAD/CAM technology and 3D printing.
Additionally, business planning is included in our curriculum, so you graduate ready to run a practice, not just work in one.

Is 2.5 years of full-time study realistic for me?
We won’t pretend it’s easy; it’s an intensive program that asks a lot of you. But it’s also designed to set you up for a career you’ll own for the rest of your life.
Our hybrid model means theory is completed online.
The clinical and lab components are completed in person at our Toronto campus and cannot be completed remotely or part-time. That in-person training is where the skills are built, and it’s non-negotiable.
If you can commit to the schedule, we will be with you every step of the way.
What if I don’t pass the board exam?
We understand this concern, and we think our track record speaks for itself.
Our written board pass rate is 82-100% in 2025.
We’ve been able to achieve this with small cohorts, where every student gets individual attention, intensive hands-on lab training.
